128 hooves thundered through the Princess Louise Park Show Centre on May 29th and 30th

The NB Draft Horse Association held its spring show at the PLP Show Centre in Sussex, NB

May 31, 2010

Sussex, NB --- "We have fun," said Margaret Hayes of Roachville, NB. Hayes has been the organizer of this annual multi-breed draft horse show for several years.

The two-day event includes an open show on the first day and a junior show and training clinic with the judge on the second day. The huge horses are shown both in-hand and driven singly, in pairs, a unicorn (3 horse), and 4 or more horse hitches. This popular event draws competitors and spectators from across the province. Handling and driving these huge horses requires patience, training and skill.

Alyssa Gaudet on Belladonna demonstrated their skill at dressage in 2009.

The cattle penners will be chasing cattle around the Ronnie Wilkins Memorial Cattle Penning ring on Sunday, June 6th. This fast-moving team event is always a crowd pleaser.

Dressage riders return on June 12th and 13th for another two days of competition where the emphasis is on grace, elegance and precision.

Then, on the week-end of June 19th it's the combined Morgan and Arabian Horse Show - the Sunrise Summer Classic.

The Cattle Penners will be on hand on the 20th.

The Quarter Horses arrive on the 25th for a four-day Maritime Quarter Horse Association show - the Highland Classic. This show draws over 100 competitors each year from throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and the NE United States.

Spectators are welcome. Admission and parking are free and there is a canteen on site.
