Canadian Olympian Evi Strasser Competes at CDI Stockholm

December 15, 2008

Ottawa, ON --- Canadian Olympian Evi Strasser competed in the Grand Prix tour at the CDI-W Stockholm in, Sweden, November 28-30, 2008 which served as the second World Cup Qualifier event for the Western European World Cup Dressage League.

Strasser and Quantum Tyme, a 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Quattro x Argentinius), started the competition off with a score of 65.917% in the Grand Prix test which placed them 12th in a very competitive field. Their placing qualified them for the Grand Prix Freestyle where they finished in 13th position on a score of 69.550%, a mere 1.4% from the top ten.

"CDI-W Stockholm was amazing. With 15,000 people in the stands clapping throughout my Freestyle, there was thundering applause when we finished and it did not end until we left the stadium. Quantum rose to the occasion, and was just happily showing off his stuff. He couldn't care less about the noise and all the camera flashes,” said an enthusiastic Strasser of her long-time partner. “Both my rides where very clean and Quantum feels in top-form. He is so much more confident in his work, and I'm thrilled. In Stockholm, there were the 20 best World Cup riders in attendance, so I couldn't be any happier with our result. "

The international judging panel included Stephen Clark (FEI O—GBR), Katrina Wuest (FEI O—GER), Gustaf Svalling (FEI I—SWE), Irmeli Summanen (FEI I—FIN) and Annette Fransen Iacobaeus (FEI I—SWE).

As of December 1st, Strasser and Quantum are currently ranked fourth in the Western European League World Cup standings. They will now be making their way to the next league qualifier taking place at the prestigious Olympia London International Horse Show December 18–21 in London, Great Britain.
