Rising Superstar, Taylor Swift to Play 2009 Calgary Stampede

Calgary, AB --- The Calgary Stampede is pleased to announce that Taylor Swift, one of the fastest rising stars in country music, will join the growing lineup of top-ranked entertainers at the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth in 2009. Swift, the 2008 Academy of Country Music’s Top New Female Vocalist of the Year will perform at the Pengrowth Saddledome on Wednesday, July 8.

“The Stampede is thrilled to be bringing outstanding new talent, like Taylor Swift, to the Saddledome stage,” says Paul Rosenberg, Calgary Stampede associate vice-president. “Swift is not only one of country music's brightest and most popular young stars, but she’s also poised to become pop's next superstar act.”

Swift is currently the fastest growing Country Female artist. Her new CD “Fearless” is the first country album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Top Album chart since Garth Brooks’ “Ultimate Hits” in November 2007 and the first by a female country artist since Carrie Underwood’s “Carnival Ride”.

Swift joins a growing lineup of superstars performing at the Stampede in 2009, including Kenny Chesney on July 10 and George Strait on July 11.

Tickets for Taylor Swift, presented by Stampede Concerts Inc, will go on sale at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 29 through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling 403-777-0000.
