Eighth Consecutive Robin Groves Riding and Driving Clinic Deemed a Huge Success
Next? Antique Tractors, World renowned Reining clinician Dell Hendricks, and Dressage. Variety IS the Spice of Life at the PLP Show Centre
May 11, 2008
Sussex, NB --- For two full days drivers and riders enjoyed lessons with Robin Groves at the Princess Louise Park Show Centre in Sussex, NB. Back for her eighth clinic, Groves attracted an enthusiastic crowd of people anxious to improve their horse driving or riding skills under her straight-forward tutelage. Many of the participants have been attending the annual event since its inception – something that Groves enjoys seeing as it allows her to chart the students’ progress from year to year.
One of the new participants in the clinic, sponsored by the New Brunswick Morgan Club and the Hampton Driving Club, was a huge palomino Thoroughbred horse named Arlington. Arly, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Sunday, clearly demonstrated that age is no deterrent to performance if a horse is kept in good shape throughout his life.
Owned by Susan Duncan, formerly of Barrie, ON, Arly was a Hunter Champion among his other accomplishments as younger horse. Now semi-retired, Arly was ridden by Francine White in the clinic. Duncan, an Equine Canada certified Hunter / Jumper / Hack and Equitation Judge, and former competitor and coach, moved to New Brunswick two years ago, to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle. She is opening a photographic studio in Saint John and enjoying riding in the Golden Grove area where her horse is boarded. She said she was very impressed by the facilities at the PLP Show Centre. “Everything is here to make showing easy,” she said. “Do people realize what a treasure this place is? Even in Ontario, this would be considered an excellent facility.”
Anyone who enjoys checking out antique tractors will like the displays scheduled for next week-end at the Centre – the annual Victoria Day Antique Power Show and Tractor Haul. The Fundy Agility Sports Team will bring their dogs for exciting and entertaining demonstrations as well.
Then, from Wednesday, May 21st through to Friday, May 23rd, team gold medal winner in Reining at the World Equestrian Games, Texan Dell Hendricks will be on hand coaching riders with Reining Horses from throughout the Maritimes. Sponsored by the NB Codiac Reining Association, members are thrilled to have the opportunity to attend a clinic with such a well-known competitor and National Reining Horse Association $1 Million Winner.
