Amber Henter Demonstrated Her Expertise During The Tampa Equestrian Festival

April 4, 2008

Tampa, FL --- Amber Henter and Atlantic D were victorious in both the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship and the Pessoa USEF Hunt Seat Medal classes putting them well on their was towards qualifying for the Finals held at the end of the year. These classes were contested in the covered jumper ring this week as opposed to the main hunter ring where they have been for the past two weeks. Henter, 16, trains with Bob Braswell and Christina Schlusemeyer at their Quiet Hill Farm in Ocala, FL.

“I had never ridden him before,” said Henter. “He was really good. The jumper fences were a little scary and I had to ride aggressively but it was fun, especially the bending lines.”

Returning to the hunter ring for the Large Junior Hunter classes, Henter was again in top position in one of the two classes offered with Kudos! Samantha Schaefer and Lazy Sunday took top honors in other Junior Hunter class.

Sara Green won both classes in the Small Junior Hunter division with Lissabon. The little bay mare was a standout performer in the very tough classes.

“She liked it out there,” said Green. “She is very focused in the ring, she doesn’t ever look outside. I rode her for the first time last weekend and she has a great personality. She’s cute and she knows it.”

Amateur Owner Hunters finished their division with Larkspur and Ashley Kennedy Whitner taking the Champion award with 30 ˝ points garnered in the five classes of the division, as they placed third and first in their two efforts today. Bling Bling and Jennifer Farri had to settle for Reserve Champion again, this week by a ˝ point. Because of their three Reserve Championships in the three weeks of competition in this division at the Tampa Equestrian Festival, Bling Bling and Farri have the most overall points and are Circuit Champions in the Amateur Owner division.

“She shouldn’t have run out of the corner,” said trainer Mary Eufemia. “But she gets the big prize, she gets to go to the Stadium.”

The Adult Amateur Hunter championship was won by Forbes with Erin Stewart. Reserve Champion was Azuro and Tracy Biro.

Small Pony Hunters were in the ring for their classes and Picante with Ashton Alexander in the irons won both classes over fences and were second place in the under saddle to claim the point lead in the race for Championship honors.

Sunny with rider Shawn Casady followed suit in the Medium Pony Hunters. They were also victorious in both classes over the jumps and placed second in the under saddle behind Godiva and Ashley Foster.

The first Large Pony Hunter over fences class was won by Lisieter Clever Star with Casady in the irons. They placed second in the next over fences class behind winner Elizabeth Butterworth on Winston. Butterworth and Winston were second in the under saddle class with Casady and Lisieter Clever Star placing fourth, giving Winston the point advantage going into tomorrow’s competitions to determine the championship.
