Prize List for $20,000 ASG Software Solutions USHJA International

Hunter Derby in Naples is Now Available

February 13, 2008

Wellington, FL --- The prize list and information regarding the $20,000 ASG Software Solutions USHJA International Hunter Derby, to be held in Naples, FL, on April 6, 2008, is now available. The derby will be hosted by Wrenwood Farms.

The prize list can be found on the Stadium Jumping Inc. Web site at www.stadiumjumping.com. The event is a High Performance Hunter class and will benefit the Naples Equestrian Challenge Therapeutic Center. It is also a member event of the USHJA International Hunter Derby Series. The date of the event is included in the schedule for the Tampa Equestrian Festival, which is also produced by Stadium Jumping Inc.

The show will be managed by Bobby Murphy of Lexington, KY, and he will design the course as well. Judges presiding over the event will be George H. Morris, Chrystine Tauber, Jimmy Clapperton and Jack Towell.

The derby will coincide with a fundraiser for the Naples Equestrian Challenge, which is a non-profit therapeutic riding program that serves Collier County and the Naples area. The benefit will be a brucheon themed “Tradition, Tailgate, Top Hats and Tails,” to celebrate the old-world style and top-shelf experience that is the traditional hunter derby.

The Wrenwood Farms derby is one of 16 classes that will be held over the 2008 calendar year. It will include fences set in a hunt-field type space with large, grassy banks, stone walls, hedges and coops. The height of the fences will range from 3’6” to 3’9”, with several 4’0” options.

The goal of the derby was set forth by George Morris last year when he rallied several top hunter riders and trainers together – who formed the High Performance Hunter committee – to return to the roots of the sport of the hunter. Current day hunters have evolved from what they once were, and the challenge of the High Performance Hunter committee is to bring back the art of the hunter. The committee is part of the United States Hunter Jumper Association. Members of the committee include Chrystine Tauber, Diane Carney, Ron Danta, Karen Healey, Kathy Newman, Lynn Jayne, Susie Schoellkopf, Geoff Teall, Louise Serio, Rush Weeden, Caroline Weeden, Danny Robertshaw, Kelli MacDonald, Larry Langer, Jenny Karazissis, Kathy Moore, Charlie Moorcroft and Collen McQuay.
