Veronica Tracy and Muscadet de la Saveniere of Karen Healey Stables Win $5,000 1.45M Open Jumper Classic at Oaks Blenheim June Classic

June 28, 2007

San Juan Capistrano, CA --- Karen Healey Stables competed in the third week of competition at the Oaks Blenheim June Classic Horse Show on June 20-24, 2007. Riders won in the jumper, equitation and hunter divisions.

One of the highlights of the week was Veronica Tracy’s win in the $5,000 1.45m Open Jumper Classic on her 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, Muscadet de la Saveniere. The pair were one of only two that advanced to the jump-off, and they defeated professional rider Helen McNaught and Tin Tin Stella. Karen Healey student Tina Dilandri and her jumper, Chanel 292, finished third in the 1.45m Open Jumper Classic, while Lauren Kay and Chip Chap were fifth.

Tracy, a 17-year-old from San Juan Capistrano, has owned “Paddy” for one year and has steadily moved up to the High Junior Jumpers and now the open division. This Saturday at the Oaks, they will compete in the main grand prix event. “I never thought I would be showing in the grand prix this year,” Tracy revealed. “Everything has just really come together. I’m not nervous yet, just really excited.”

“He is so much fun,” Tracy said of her horse. “He likes to do things his own way, and he has the most personality of any horse I’ve ever ridden. He likes to just go in the ring and do his job. We have a good partnership now.”

In addition to her jumper win, Tracy won both phases and overall in the WIHS Equitation Classic on her ten-year-old Holsteiner gelding Guns N Roses. “Axel is definitely coming into his own,” Tracy commented. “He’s been a project for me and Karen, and now he’s completely schooled and straightforward.”

Second place in the WIHS class went to Tina Dilandri of La Jolla, CA, and third was Shelby Wakeman of Westlake Village, CA. In the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, Dilandri took home the blue ribbon, while Navona Gallegos was second and Wakeman was third. Dilandri also won the USEF Junior Medal on her equitation horse RSVP, while Holly Dickinson of Los Angeles was fourth.

Dickinson was victorious in the CPHA Junior Medal and finished second in the Equitation 14 & Under. Jocelyn Neff of Newport Beach, CA, won the Equitation 14 & Under. Wakeman was second in the WCE Medal, and Michelle Morris of La Cañada, CA, was fourth. San Juan Capistrano resident Tiffani Weeda rode Here’s Johnny to victory in the CPHA Foundation medal class.

Morris picked up second place in the Equitation 15-17 over fences. In the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters, she piloted Soft Touch for trainer John Bragg. They won $1,000 Junior Hunter Classic, along with three classes in their division for the championship. This was their second championship in a row.

Kristi Siam of Chatsworth, CA, rode Karma to the win in the PCHA Adult Medal and the Ariat Adult Medal.

In the $5,000 High Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic, Dilandri and Chanel 292 finished in the third place, while Tracy and her mount were fifth. Kay and Chip Chap took eighth place.

Riding in one of her favorite competitions, ten-year-old Skylar Nelson of Burbank, CA, rode her medium pony, Macy Grey, to fifth place overall in the Zone 10 “West Coast” Pony Finals. The pair won the first two phases of the competition. Nelson also rode her small pony, Magic Formula, to first place in the Small Pony Hunters. Magic Formula finished third in the model and fourth under saddle in the Zone 10 Finals.

Karen Healey Stables will compete next at the Oaks Blenheim Red, White & Blue Horse Show on June 27-July 1, 2007.
