Kinda Blue and Haylie Jayne Stay Clear to Win the $10,000 Wachovia Securities Low Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic at Wachovia Showplace Spring Spectacular I

June 24, 2007

Wayne, IL --- The Wachovia Showplace Spring Spectacular II came to a close today with a schedule full of exciting events. In the grand prix ring, the $10,000 Wachovia Securities Low Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic came to a gripping conclusion when Haylie Jayne and Kinda Blue scored victory with the only double clear round. They led the victory gallop over Theo Genn on Cohiba and Dana Waters with Biloxi.

With the generous help of Wachovia Securities, LLC, and other amazing sponsors, the Wachovia Showplace Spring Spectacular II was able to award $50,000 in prize money today in the grand prix ring alone. Known for their outstanding hospitality, variety of classes and outstanding prize money, the Showplace Productions events at the Lamplight Equestrian Center are some of the premier horse shows in the Midwest.

Today’s course was designed by Hector Loyola of Puerto Rico and comprised 13 numbered obstacles. Out of 43 entries, only nine were clear to advance to the jump-off. In the twisting, turning second round, many had trouble leaving the jumps up. “I thought the first round was difficult,” Jayne said. “Everything came up incredibly fast. There was not a moment to breathe. My horse is crafty, so this was a good course for him. He handled it great.”

The winner of the class was quite possibly the most experienced horse in the line-up. Kinda Blue, who has been a part of the Jayne family for eight years, has won countless jumper classes with all three Jayne children: Maggie, Charlie and now Haylie. The 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding now shows lightly, but he knows when it’s a special occasion.

After a break this winter, Kinda Blue and Haylie Jayne showed in the Adult Jumpers a few weeks ago to prepare. Their move into the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper division this week “felt back to normal,” Jayne revealed. “The adult division was weird for us. We had to go a lot faster than usual, but this felt good again.”

In the jump-off, Jayne knew there were no clean rounds ahead of her, but she was not going to race too much for the time. “My horse is naturally fast, so I was trying to go double clean and as smooth as I could,” she explained. “I knew that he would make up time; he’s quick in the air, he’s quick on the landing, so I was just thinking double clean.”

Regarding her win today on her veteran horse, Jayne said, “It feels great. He’s such a special horse. He’s a part of the family, and to have him back is what’s most exciting. Winning is just the icing on the cake.”
