Calgary Stampede kicks off Stampede with Jann Arden

June 14, 2007

Calgary, AB --- The Calgary Stampede is pleased to bring Calgary's own Jann Arden to the Coca-Cola Stage on Thursday July, 5 at 9 p.m. to help kick-off Sneak-a-Peek and the Stampede's "30-Hours of Tough" campaign.

The 30-Hour campaign will raise funds and awareness in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) - Prairies/NWT Chapter, and begins with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at the Olympic Way entrance at 4 p.m. on July 5. Stampede admission on Sneak-a-Peek is $3 with net proceeds going to CBCF - Prairies/NWT Chapter.

"We are extremely excited to have the talented Jann Arden kick off this year's Calgary Stampede," said Paul Rosenberg, senior manager of sales and programming, Calgary Stampede. "It's not often people have the opportunity to see a Jann Arden concert for the price of admission to Stampede."

Arden continues to be one of Canada's most talented songwriters and performers. Starting 2007 as Chatelaine's covergirl and with a personal transformation that people can't stop talking about, her star will only continue to shine. With nine CDs, 16 top ten singles, a substantial collection of industry related awards and honours, a star on Canada's Walk of Fame, acting, writing and charity work, Arden is truly an entertainment icon. Her latest album, Uncover Me, was certified Platinum in just three months, and she recently concluded a national tour selling out venues across Canada.

This concert is presented by Lite 96 and Citytv.

The "30-Hours of Tough" campaign continues on July 6th with a special presentation by Wrangler of a "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" Stampede Rodeo performance, in which competitors, rodeo clowns, announcers and rodeo fans will be encouraged to wear pink. In addition, a unique merchandising program, sponsored by Wrangler and Lammle's Western Wear & Tack, offers a range of customized "pink" merchandise sold to local businesses and the general public with proceeds going to the fundraising campaign.
