A ‘good feeling’ Brought Championship Results for a Quebec Family at the 2007 Arabian Horse Show
June 10, 2007
Sussex, NB --- “We had a good feeling about visiting Atlantic Canada – that it would be interesting,” said Monique Senechal of St-Epiphane, Quebec. She and her husband, Gaetan Anctil and their daughter Carole-Anne Anctil brought two Arabian horses to the 2007 Atlantic Canada Arabian Horse Association show June 9th and 10th held at the Princess Louise Park Show Centre in Sussex, NB. It was the first time that the family had attended the show and also their first visit to New Brunswick. They ended up capturing the Championship in the Most Classic Arabian Horse class with their beautiful grey stallion Senor Desantibanes. Shown by Gaetan Anctil, Senor Desantibanes displayed the fire and grace for which the Arabian Horse breed is known.
Speaking for her family and the two couples who traveled with them to New Brunswick, Senechal said, “We feel very welcome. People (at the show and in Sussex) are very concerned about visitors and helping us. It’s the first time we’ve shown the horses ourselves with just family and friends and we’re very happy with the experience..
Carole-Anne Anctil said, “This is a beautiful facility. It’s so clean and well cared for.” Their friends Yolande and Rene Desy and Diane Caissey and Marcel Nault also remarked on the friendliness they encountered during their visit and assured everyone they’d encourage their friends in Quebec to make the trip to Sussex to participate in future horse shows at the Show Centre. “There’s nothing like this place at home,” Gaetan concluded.
The judge for the week-end was Adrienne Hancock-Leong from Louisville, Kentucky. Her bilingualism came in handy as she complimented the Anctil’s on their horse and their big win. Like most visitors to the Show Centre, she was astounded that such a lovely facility existed in such a convenient location within the region.
Amanda Hunter, Manager of the show for the Atlantic Canada Arabian Horse Association, announced that competitor attendance this year was up by 18% over the previous year. The Association hopes that this is a harbinger of good things for the future.
Coming up in June at the PLP Show Centre
The rest of the month is jam-packed with activity at the Princess Louise Show Centre. The New Brunswick Morgan Horse Association is hosting a combined Morgan / Arabian Horse show June 16th and 17th at the Centre.
The following week-end, June 23rd and 24th will see the stables filled with Quarter horses attending the Maritime Quarter Horse Association Highland Classic spring show.
No sooner will they have moved out when horses and riders attending a training clinic in the fine art of Reining will arrive. The clinic will run on the 27th and 28th of June, preceding a Reining Horse Show, sponsored by the Codiac Reining Horse Club, on June 30th and July 1st.
“If you’re looking for family–oriented entertainment and you love horses, the Princess Louise Park Show Centre is the place to be for the rest of June,” said Ceci Flanagan-Snow, Manager of the facility.
The Princess Louise Park Show Centre is New Brunswick’s only dedicated agricultural show centre. Conveniently located in Sussex, the Show Centre offers amenities to make any agricultural event a success. Parking is always free, as is admission to most events.
