CFR Advance Ticket Sales Hit an All-Time High
June 7, 2007
Edmonton, AB --- Do you know what you’ll be doing five months from now?
A record number of people from across Canada and the northern United States know. They’ll be in Edmonton at Rexall Place for the Canadian Finals Rodeo, produced by Northlands and held November 7 to 11.
Early advance ticket sales for the national championship rodeo have hit an all-time high already, just days after the on-sale date of May 31. Sales for CFR 2007 are up six per cent over the 2006 early ticket sales for the same period. Wrangler Rodeo Fan ticket package sales have accounted for much of this growth, with more rodeo enthusiasts than ever planning trips to Edmonton from across Canada and northern U.S. states to watch the CFR.
“It’s really encouraging to see interest rising steadily in our event,” says John Windwick, Northlands director responsible for CFR and CFR Commissioner. “We’ve broken attendance records for the past three years. Word is spreading about the world-class quality of this rodeo, the incredible level of competition within it, and all the River City Round-Up festival events that kick-start the whole city. Add it all up, and it’s where the west turns wild.”
Top rodeo competitors from around the world hit the pro rodeo trail all season long in Canada in a bid for a qualifying berth at the Canadian Finals Rodeo. In any given year, the cowboys hitting the dirt at Rexall Place have world championship and Canadian championship belt buckles holding up their Wranglers. Changes to qualifying rules through the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association in 2006 allowed more non-Canadian competitors to qualify, bringing even more world-class rodeo athletes and their fans to Edmonton for the CFR.
CFR and the concurrent Farmfair International spark one of Edmonton’s busiest tourist weeks of the year as ranchers and rodeo fans converge on the city to celebrate its western roots. Most purchase advance ticket packages to ensure their spot at CFR.
“We’re excited about this early rush of ticket sales,” says Windwick. “There are still a lot of tickets left, but we’re encouraging people to buy early to guarantee their place in the heart of the action. You know that when the rodeo’s in town, so plan ahead to be sure.”
