Palm Beach County Horseman’s Association Provides Grassroots Competition for South Florida Equestrians

June 27, 2006

Wellington, FL --- The Palm Beach County Horseman’s Association (PBCHA) held their most recent horse show this past weekend, June 24th and 25th, at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida. The PBCHA, founded in 1968, is a local organization dedicated to the promotion of quality horsemanship, sportsmanship, and fair competition in the hunter and jumper disciplines. The organization holds eight two-day horse shows between April and November and hosts more than 25 divisions, ranging from Walk Trot Hunter to Open Jumper at 4 feet.

“We would like to thank Brandon King for doing such a great job as the Jumper ring Course Designer,” said Carol LeMaster, PBCHA Horse Show manager. “His courses were excellent, and all of the competitors were thrilled! We cannot thank him enough for doing such a professional job, and we look forward to having him design courses at our next show.”

In the Hunter rings, Marla Connor designed beautiful courses as well. She is the wife of Victor Connor, who was the horse show’s technical coordinator and is PBCHA’s Vice President.

The judges for the past weekend included top equestrian professionals James Lala and Jen Drahan in the hunter rings and Andy Silverthorne in the jumper judge’s booth.

“We are so happy with this weekend’s turnout,” reported LeMaster. “We had 137 entries in the pony ring and about 250 entries in the show! It was a very successful weekend, and we feel that our licensed officials and course designers are greatly contributing to the quality of competition that we provide for our members. Our riders are the grassroots of the equestrian industry, and we are proud to be a part of their competitive foundation.”

This year’s Board Members include: President and Interim Treasurer Ann Root, Vice President Victor Connor, Secretary Andy Silverthorne, Assistant Secretary Peggy Thorndyke, and Assistant Treasurer and Show Office Manager Betsy Mackenzie. Additional Board Members are: Brooke Lyn, Debbie Williams, Melanie Peterson, Carol LeMaster, Nancy Hugins, and Megan O’Dwyer.
