Roberto Teran and Encore Win in Canadian Young Horse Development Series

June 8, 2006

Troy, ON --- The third installment of the 2006 Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series was held on Sunday, June 4, at the Fox Run Horse Show in Troy, ON.

Following a two-horse jump-off, Roberto Teran emerged victorious in the Six-Year-Old Division riding Encore 3E. This Canadian Sport Horse by Class Action and out of Alley Cat is no stranger to the Canadian Young Horse Development Series, having competed as a four and five-year-old. Bred by KingRidge Stables of King, ON, Encore 3E proudly continues KingRidge's success in the Series.

For the third consecutive time, Michelle Vandal and Divine Diva were the runner-ups in the Six-Year-Old Division. A Canadian Sport Horse mare owned by Vandal and Julie van Wieren, Divine Diva was bred by Jim Mackay of Dobbinton, ON, and is by the thoroughbred sire, Vice Chancellor, and out of a Clydesdale mare.

With the fastest four fault round, Canadian Olympian Beth Underhill placed third riding Concorde's Tiantha for owner Tim Millard. A Dutch Warmblood mare by Concorde, Concorde's Tiantha successfully competed in the Series as a four-year-old when she enjoyed two victories. She is just returning to the ring after having a year off to produce a foal by Timebreaker, winner of the 2005 National Five-Year-Old Championship.

Debbie McFadden of London, ON, riding her own Ugene topped a 15-horse starting field in the Five-Year-Old Division. Ugene is a Canadian Warmblood bred by Henk Klunder of St. Agatha, ON. By Indoctro out of a Nimmerdor dam, Ugene made his competition debut earlier this winter in Ocala, Florida.

Ultimatum, a Dutch Warmblood by Oliver, took the runner-up position with owner/rider Courtney Piper-King. KingRidge Stables then filled the next two spots in the results with Hugh Graham guiding Fifth Estate 3E to third and Feature Attraction 3E to fourth. Both horses were bred by KingRidge Stables and are registered Canadian Sport Horses. Fifth Estate 3E is by Class Action out of a thoroughbred dam while Feature Attraction 3E is sired by the legendary Baloubet de Rouet and out of Galaxy 3E by Aerobic Z.

Proving the strength of Canadian-bred horses, the top six horses in the Four-Year-Old Division were all bred right here in Canada. Michelle Vandal of Milton, ON, topped the division with her Dutch Warmblood, VDL Viper H, who is enjoying his first year of showing. Bred in Canada by Hogendoorn, VDL Viper H is by Corland out of an Ahorn dam.
