June 7, 2006
Ottawa, ON --- Canadian short-listed rider Daisy Palmer-Kraul, who currently resides in Verden, Niedersachsen, Germany recently contested the CDI3* Lipica, held at the Lipica Stud Farm in Slovenia.
“As we traveled through Austria en route to Slovenia, the temperatures dropped to zero and we had snow. However, the day after we arrived in Lipica, the sky was blue and the sun was shining,” remarked Palmer-Kraul.
Along with the nicer weather came solid performances. Partnered with Dunensand, a nine-year-old Hannoverian gelding owned by Fiona Dimitrieff, Palmer-Kraul finished fourth in the Prix St. Georges achieving a score of 67.35%. The duo also finished seventh in the Intermediaire I, with a score of 66.05% and
topped off the competition with a fourth place finish in the Intermediaire I Freestyle, earning an impressive score of 68%.
“I was absolutely thrilled with our results. Dunnie (Dunensand) and I had a great time and I am so proud to see our hard work starting to pay off,” stated Palmer-Kraul. “I was so excited to be representing my country and Dunnie and I truly gave it our all.”
When asked about the level of competition in Germany compared to that in North America, Palmer-Kraul explained that she believes a CDI3* event, wherever the location, is always a tough competition. “It is a show were the best of the best come to represent their country and take it quite seriously in doing so. In the European CDI's the possibility of competing against top world class riders is a definite, but what better opportunity to compete amongst such top caliber horses and riders.”
“I wish to thank our fantastic supporter; Patriot Forge. It is honestly a dream coming to reality for Dunnie and I, and without the super support we have received, none of this would be possible,” commented Palmer-Kraul. “As a team we are working for an exciting future.”
