Katherine Newman of Allwyn Court Dominates Large Junior Hunters at Littlewood Horse Show

April 12, 2006

Wellington, FL --- After an intense and successful season at the Winter Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida, Katherine Newman continues to rise to the occasion and gain momentum in the show arena. The fifteen year old rides at her Wellington, Florida farm, Allwyn Court, and trains with her parents, Kathy and Gerry Newman.

This past weekend, she rode for the win once again at the Littlewood Horse Show in Wellington, Florida in the Large Junior Hunter division. She rode Castleton for Pamela Dudley and dominated the division over fences. The adorable bay earned two first places and two seconds over fences and captured fourth in the under saddle, sealing a championship tricolor for the division.

“He is a really nice, young horse,” commented Kathy Newman. “He’s coming along and has so much potential. He is normally a First Year Green horse, so we’re very proud of how he’s doing with Katherine in the Juniors. We’re really lucky to have a horse like him available in the barn for Katherine to practice on, especially since he’s a new ride for her. He’s a wonderful young horse.”

In addition to Newman’s championship on Castleton, she also garnered impressive ribbons with a catch ride for Robert Cole in the Small Junior Hunters. She piloted Coles’ horse, Best of Everything, to the reserve championship.

Along with Castleton and the Best of Everything, the busy teenager shows Corvet Z, owned by Allwyn Court, and Barcelona, Royal D’Or, Gran Cru, and Timeless for owner Mimi Abel-Smith. She also catch rides at shows whenever possible and competes in the equitation, junior jumper, and junior hunter divisions.
