Equine Canada and Filière cheval du Québec to Exhibit at Salon du Cheval

November 2, 2005

Ottawa, ON --- Equine Canada’s Breeds & Industry Division in conjunction with representatives of Filière cheval du Quebec, a provincial equine industry organization, will be promoting Canadian-bred horses from a trade booth at Salon du Cheval, Paris, France, Dec. 3-11, 2005. Breed associations, individuals and companies are invited to participate by sending promotional material to the event to be distributed from the Equine Canada booth on your behalf. If you are interested in participating in person, let me know. *Breed associations, individuals and companies must be members of Equine Canada to participate.

Salon du Cheval is the largest equestrian event in France and the second largest in Europe. With more than 1500 horses on display, 450 trade show exhibits, theatrical performances and world-renowned sporting events such as the Paris International Show Jumping competition and the World Arabian Horse Championships, 190,000-plus visitors will have plenty to see and do at the 9-day fair. France boasts more than 500,000 members in its national equestrian federation (FFE) with approximately 100,000 people making their living from breeding horses alone. In addition, 60,000 people belong to the National Equestrian Tourism Committee. Western riding has increased in popularity in the last three years since the sport of Reining was first included in the 2002 World Equestrian Games and there is plenty of opportunity for Canadian expertise in this field. Momentum will increase with the next World Equestrian Games taking place in Germany in 2006.

The cost

* Associations $1000 (associations can invite members to contribute to cost of their promotion) Associations are encouraged to promote their members’ horses for sale, stallions standing in Canada and general information about their breed association.

* Individuals and Companies $200 (shipping costs not included)

The coordinated generic export promotional activities of the past few years under the platform “Equine Canada, Exporting Canadian-bred Horses to the World” has raised Canada’s profile and created new interest from buyers around the globe who recognize the “buying Canadian-bred advantages” of excellent quality, bloodlines, expertise, customer service, environmentally responsible production and innovation.
