  • Jennifer Willcock
    Ride for Breast Cancer
    • Cochrane Area, Alberta
      • Barrel racer Jenn Willcock, and Jay Mailloux are one of nine Cochrane and area participants entering the Calgary Womens Walk for Breast Cancer (60 kilometres).

The entrance/sponsorship of $2000 is a challenge for many entrants, and these two have thought laterally and created a three-hour sponsored ride on 10th June, beginning 12 noon, and covering private land and reservation trails normally never accessed by the public. Many of the trails on this three-hour ride (followed by chilli and coffee) are original settlers' trails, or hunting trails from the original First Nations people, including a magical loop around Rabbit Lake over the legendary Anchor X Ranch's grazing leases.

Right now 35 participants have already committed to the ride, with more signing up daily. Minimum entrance charitable donation is $25, with many already generously donating more to help local women dealing with breast cancer, or relatives similarly afflicted. Monies raised goes toward raising the $2000 for each of the nine entries; any excess amount will be immediately donated to the Walk.

Contact: Jenn Willcock on cellphone 312-6786 for further details.

Must register to ride. We are meeting at noon at the corner of Range Road 280 and Grand Valley Road (north on Grand Valley from 1A). We will travel another 1/2 hour from there into land not accessible by the public. Bring a lawn chair! :)
